I have a Grantour ('83 or '84 I think) which is missing a seat. The seatpost would have to be split because the cable for the rear brake runs directly across the opening. Does anyone know where I can find such a post? If not, I'm afraid I'll have to reroute the cable because I'm not comfortable with the idea of cutting a slot in a post not designed for that!
Any ideas?
Thanks! |

I own a Grandtour as well and my brake cable dutifully runs around the seatpost Some pictures of your problem could help.

Pictures always help. Show the right side of the bike and closeup pictures of the seat tube lug.

I'm seeing something, I'm seeing something... If I just had a picture it would be a lot clearer...
1983 & 1984 Catalog pages showing the Grantour model:

It will take a 26.2mm or maybe a 26.4mm seatpost depending on the year. |

Ok, ok, never mind.
When I went to photograph it I realized that the "groove" the cable rested in was actually the gap in the downtub. The cable had merely settled across the opening. The cable does fit around the tube
I assumed that it was some exotic design but didn't think it through.
I appreciate your interest in helping, and if I find any REAL problems getting bike back on the road I'll be back here, bugging you again. |
