I just bought an unmarked bike, which, after consulting the catalogues on the GitaneUSA site, I think might be a Gitane Super Corsa or similar? Fork dropouts and frame dropouts are marked Campagnolo. The bike is equipped with Campagnolo Nuovo Record, apart from the brakes which are Shimano 600. The handlebar does not seem to be original. There are absolutely no markings on the frame, but based on the Fork crown logos it's a Gitane? Can anybody help me? Many thanks in advance!!! A bike with a frame that's too big or too small is no bargin no matter what you paid for it.... The bike fits perfectly, I initially bought it mostly for the parts, but now it will obviously be restored to its former glory I checked more closely, and the Maillard pedals on it are made in 1978. The Campagnolo rear derailleur is from 79. Could it be a 79 Super Olympic or Olympic? I could not find a 79 catalogue, but it seems to fit nicely between your bike and the '80 Olympic, which has a chromed fork. Really looking forward to the project now... Is this normal? Or might it be a later addition? It seems odd on a fully Campy equipped bike? You'll find LOTS of variances, especially in bikes made for different markets: France, The Netherlands, The UK, The US, Germany, Eastern Europe, Australia and so on. The picture that I have of a 1979 Team model have different lugs than your bike, the fork is painted not chromed, it's made of Reynolds 531SL tubing and all of the components are French. It's all original except for the owner felt he should "upgrade" the Mafac brakes to some Weinmann. Campy brakes were not always available at the time and some folks apparently didn't like the Mafac brakes. Do you have the original Mafac levers still on the bike?
