Horrors! Shocked Shocked

UK seller is claiming the this frame is a 1970s Gitane Tour de France.

It's actually a mid 70s Peugeot PX-10 repainted with new Gitane TdF decals...

NOTE I sent a message to the seller and pointed out the error. He's changed the listing to PX-10 With Gitane TdF decals[/b]

I also saw that frame, I was pretty sure it was not a gitane but I would not be able to identify it as a peugot. Too short for me anyway

Two giveaways:

It has Nervex Duboise lugs instead of Prugant or Bocama, and...

The headset is a Stronglight V4 Competition instead of a Stronglight P3.

Funny thing, a PX-10 would probably bring more money than a TdF. Rolling Eyes

My guess is that the chrome was pretty shot so it got painted over and someone didn't look too hard for PX-10 decals but used Gitanes instead.

BTW,

Go ride some cobble stones! Wink The Paris-Robaix is nothing compared to Pgh. streets!

The street that I grew up on - 1/2 mile long hill - the street used to be paved with cobble stones:

Close... It's in Carrick and runs between Rt 51 and Brownsville Rd.

It was always a blast going down on a coaster brake bike but too steep in most places to pedal up with a single speed.

Great sled riding in the winter too! Cool
