Hello people !

I haven't been here for a while, I guess I am a "social network" kind of guy.

I'm currently working on a new feature set to appear on our blog ( www.greglemondfans.wordpress.com ) focusing on the Renault jersey. Since our space there is limited we will use mainly pics of Greg.

But... Doing my research I found a few nice and useful pics (mainly Hinault pics) that I thought would be appropriate to share with you guys.

1st pic is a 1979 group shot for a Renault ad. Hinault is sitting on a profil bike with big Mavic rims.

All right. Onto the topic : TT skinsuit. 1979 is a key year as these bad boys started popping up everywhere that very year. Renault chose to work with Assos for their prototypes.

This pic is from the Criterium International in march. That jersey seems to have just the Renault stripes with no sponsor name or anything else. Prototype ain't no good as the fabric doesn't stick to the body.

There is no date or provenance for this pic. TT skinuit is now functional but upper part of the suit is all red. No sponsor name or logo although they appear on the lower part of the suit.

This is a criterium that took place before the arrival of Bordeaux-Paris in Fontenay sous Bois. Hinault attacked there and soon took a lap in advance from the peloton. There is still a red up there but Assos figured out how to print the sponsor names on the chest.

Tour de France TTT. Hinault is in yellow but the rest of the team is set : Reanult sknisuit, profil bikes with big rims. Note that the Renault and Gitane logos are not exactly the same as they are on the regular jersey (Assos will do the same trick in 1984).

Last pic is Hinault in the Superbagnères ITT. The man looked so good on that day that Assos used a picture from this race for their logo (see this topic : http://www.gitaneusa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1863&highlight=assos )

good to see ya Nicolas , nice pics you put up. if you ever figure out the big mavic rims , give me a shout out . the profile track bike im building has these on it in the 1980 catalog . ive heard that they were maybe cx 18's with a glued on wedge type faring . spoke nipples trued from top of the rim. again just what I heard , not taking that to the bank unless someone could confirm that. did u see the castelli itt skin suit on ebay last week ?

Another pic of the 79 TDF, possibly after the Superbagnères TT. The Renault logo is clearly not the same as the regular jersey

Thank you. Yes I have a huge jersey collection but it's only because I live in a flat, no garage which means I only have 1 bike... and it's not a Gitane, sadly.

Lofter, you mean that black one ? That one I've never seen in real life. Pretty rare indeed. I have seen the same in white from time to time but never black.
