It's been 6 yrs since I purchased/traded/bartered a "new to me" Gitane in my size. Some of it's market limitations and some is family budget limitations.

I completely enjoy the two I have and ride them quite a bit - The TdF gets at least one 100 mile ride each year and the Sprint was my winter bike.

Not to say I don't keep my eye out but I think I officially have Gitane withdrawal symptoms. The nice ones I see are never my size - oh well, I'll live vicariously through all of you.

Are your market areas dry for mid to upper level Gitane bikes? There seem to be plenty of mixtes and low end ones in the Seattle market.

Yeah, I've seen that one in Seattle. A little tall, though and I'm trying to limit the tall bikes I have right now. Just finished a fixie project on a Univega. The Gitane track bike I have my eye on is an '84 that LBS owner has but he doesn't want to sell it yet.

I watch leboncoin periodically - that's fun for me.
