Alright bike gurus the frame is at the paint shop. Based on my research the 1970, 71 Gitane TdF had foil decals. I've seen photos of them. Now where can I get some? I found a source (Cyclomondo) and send off an inquiry but they are in Australia. Any other or better choices out there?

My vote would be to support Greg, He was responsive and helpful to our members efforts to reproduce the early 70's foil stickers and decals sets. Other members that have utilized Greg's products will likely chime in. I believe that they can be clear coated---or as the originals, simply applied over the painted frame finish. Hopefully others may contribute as to the simplicity or difficulty they may have found in using these products.

I Like Steel !!!

I worked with Greg Softly when he was developing those decals. They're very close to the originals.

He sells them on US eBay under the name Cyclomondo.

Greg's stuff is really good! I've ordered two sets of '78 decals and one early '80's set. As a graphic designer I can tell you; they really look good! Greg also adds a very clear written application instruction. My next project (after the 1980 Trophée) is a 1978 Olympic.

Greg's look very good but they don't match the decals on my ~1972 Gran Sport. I have found ones that match from another supplier. Appearance is exact match. Only issue is they are made out of a thin vinyl. It is stated they can be clear coated. $50 a set. Up options: 1 mil vs 2 mil +$, UV protection film (apply decals after paint) +$.

Has anyone been able to save and re-use the decals off of their bike? The purple paint on mine is in such poor condition that rubbing the frame with mineral spirits will remove the paint. So maybe with a little patients, the right solvent and time I could "float" the old decals off the bike and use again. Has this been done????

hair dryer/heat gun with some heat, pull one side only. Drafting type tape (not too sticky) might hold things together if stretching.
