Bon Jour Maxime,
Your bike is, indeed, an '89 Replica 11. Mine is, essentially, the same. It was described way back in the 1990's as a "Gitane 653" on this website; purchased in 1990 as a frameset and set up similarly. Hence, there is no Replica sticker on the top tube. For whatever reason, there do not seem to be any catalogues (if there ever were any) re this velo, so that may be one reason why they are relatively unknown. However, Bicycling's and Bicycle Guide's 1989 Buyer's Guides give pretty good descriptions of these velos, albeit no pictures.

There were, actually, two versions of this 653: 1) Replica 11 with a Croce d' Aune setup and 2) Exploit; an identical frameset, but with a less expensive (but still very fine) Athena groupset. There is still a debate as to the composition of Reynolds 653. Going with Reynold's official version; A thin wall (thinner than 531c) main frame, plus 725 (an evolution of 753) rear stays. The frames (per Gitane USA) were also equipped with Cinelli lugs and Campag. dropouts. Both models were equipped with ITM Pro bars and stems, Maillard freewheels and Wolber Champion rims with Wolber Neo Pro tubulars.

Identical bikes (equipped with Dura Ace, however), were raced successfully by Marc Madiot, J.F. Bernard, Remig Stumpf, Andreas Kappes et al, and their Toshiba squad in 1988-89. In any event, your Replica 11, with it's C-Record Delta groupset, when completed, should be fancier than any of the production bikes Good luck!

Thanks for all the informations Peter!

So i'm asking me, what the difference into campagnolo "Croce d'Aune" and "C-Record Delta" ?
I just need a crankset and a front dérailleur, to complete the groupset .

I can't paint the frame, cause i have to keep the original decal set!

The goal is to keep&give a cool look, without broke the specialist's heart haha !

i keep you in touch !

Hi Maxime,
On the question; To correct myself, the group should be called Croce d' Aune Delta. C-Record Delta was Campagnolo's top of the line group; Croce d' Aune Delta was positioned just below the latter. Delta in both cases refers to the then new triangular (delta) shaped brakeset. Therefore, you would need, I believe, a crankset, etc. from the C-Record group, rather than the latter slightly less expensive (Croce d' Aune) group, if my explanation is at all clear! There were some differentiations (none that I think were that important) other than a few ounces in weight. The C-Record crankset had, of course, the famous four pin crankset design. I note that I should have described the 653 frameset as a thinwall Reynolds 531 (thinner than 531c) main frame with 725 (a development of 753) rear stays. Truthfully, I cannot tell the difference between my 653 and a good 531 bike. Hoping that this helps.
