Hi All, Trying to identify this recent purchase. From the catalogues I'm thinking it's a Men's Gypsy 1975 but appreciate any more input. Cheers Ian

Looks like a 1975-76 model. Gitane made different models for specific markets so it's hard to tell the exact model from OZ.
Bikes from that era with brazed-on pump mounts were definitely not made for the US market. |

| Thanks Chas, I like the sound of a Gypsy so I might go with that. A technical question; when the gear is set on the largest and 2nd largest cogs on the back wheel the upper cog of the rear derailleur sits in the chain as the chain spins on the wheel cog. Is this normal? I have a feeling the chain may be too long and needs a couple of links removed to pull the derailleur down. I hope this makes sense thanks for any info. |
