Did a quick refurbish on a 70's Gitane tandem. We are the second owners, the original owner(s) toured around Finland and Sweden but then had to let the poor bike sleep in the shed for 20 years or so. Married with children, you know the score. :)

Anyway, chains, cables and tyres needed replacing. (the pictures show old Nokians) Otherwise it was the usual strip clean regrease reinstall job.

First test drive done today. To the ice cream shop and back. :)

Front light is missing. Then again I'll probably ditch the dynamo and replace the light internals with some modern led magic.

Great looking bike. My daughter still periodically bothers me about finding one - just haven't found the right Gitane yet.

I just found one myself this summer, what looks to be a 1970 tandem. It needs the same, and likely a new rear rim. Synchronizing the front and rear brakes is going to be interesting...
