Hi,
The bike is a 1974-75 Tour de France with a partial Shimano Dura-Ace gruppo. The hubs are Pellisier Professional models. The odd dark picture is a shot of the Simplex seat post taken from below.
Only has the 3 main tubes on this frame are made of Reynolds 531. A Team bike would have had an all Reynolds 531 frame plus it would have been all Campy equipped in those days.
This bike looks like it's in very nice condition. I bid on it when it was listed before. The 1st generation Dura-Ace components are worth $200-$300 by themselves plus it has rare metric thread cranks. The $195 shipping cost is a little steep
We had one of Lucien van Impe's 1976 Tour de France bikes at our shop. I was expecting something special but was disappointed when it arrived. It looked like any other hard ridden "off the rack" all Campy production bike of the day.
I'm pretty sure that it was genuine because our shop owner had a large personal bike collection. He frequently bought these kinds of treasures which later included items such as a pair of Seven-Eleven team bikes. He never shared his sources for these things with me so I stopped asking. |
