Pretty much OEM per team specs except the seat post & wheels.
I have Mavic G40 clincher rims on Maillard 700 (Spidel) hubs.
Shimano 600 Seat Post.

Does anyone know what the spec was for the seat post on the actual team bikes for that year?

Nice. What size is it? If it is a 54, you should let me "borrow" it. Where did you find the Michelin tires?

Seatpost: Simplex

Thanks for the link on the specs page.
I remember the Simplex Spidel seatposts of that era.
They were "Lost Wax" forged...pretty crude from what I recall.
I think that I'll keep the one Japanese component.

The Japanese use the euphemism "MELT FORGED" meaning pressure cast injection molded. Molten aluminum is injected into the mold at high pressure. Far different from true forging.

Before I get side tracked, really nice bike. Cool

What kind of headset is that, a Stronglight?

I need to start working on putting together may 1984 Team Pro.

I have a NOS 1980s Simplex alloy seat post but I'm a little leary about using it.

I'll probably use Spidel badged Stronglight 105bis cranks because I can run a 37T or 38T small chainring. I have some Mafac LS2 side pull brakes which I'll probably use instead of Modolos. They look just like Modolos and were probably made by them.

I just bought a NOS Stronglight A9 headset for my Team Pro frame from a seller in the UK for $50 USD shipped. Very Happy

That's less than half the price several sellers are asking for used A9 headsets. Shocked

PM me and I'll send you the eBay link.

When I first saw one of these headsets and disassembled it to repack the bearings, I thought they were really cheap! I have several of them that came on old bikes and frames I've acquired and they work very well and are long lasting.

I have one of those headsets...instead of saying "Stronglight", it is labeled "Hinault".

I was noticing that my headset is quite stiff.

Will need to open it up and check the bearings.

Where can you get replacement roller-bearings for this and the A9 (Same headset but with plastic cups & steel races)?

Beautiful bike - I have to say the metallic blue/yellow combination is, by far, my favorite. It's just so striking. And I agree with the derailleurs - very nice. I'm back on the hunt for 1 or 2 more and am always checking out good photos of the Simplex equipment.
