Jimmy Casper won the inaugural Tour of Oman's first stage and took the leader's jersey. The start was delayed because the sheik wanted to watch his fireworks and lazer show before the race (a circuit on city streets), so the riders raced at night. Although it was supposed to be semi-neutralized, early attacks put paid to any thoughts of rest. Casper took advantage of Team Sky's leadout and jumped to the win, proving that he can compete with the best! Bravo Caspar! Bravo Gitane!

Another sprint in the desert. If you are looking for hills, apparently the Arabian peninsula is not for you. 10th for Casper was not enough to hold on to his leader's jersey, but that probably wasn't the goal of this exercise.

1 Daniele Bennati (Ita) Liquigas-Doimo 3:33:03
10 Jimmy Casper (Fra) Saur - Sojasun

Sky finally gets it right after days of leading out the top sprinters in the world. Casper fell further off the pace, but he has nothing more to prove in the desert. Another win would be nice though.

Bickering and arguing led to full team attacks in cross-winds. Seriously ridiculous stuff, but actually caused some fun racing. Perhaps we should make sure that more races are scheduled for "that time of the month" for the riders? Anyhow, our guys didn't figure into the main stuff, but exploited the cat-fighting to earn top 10 in the GC!

Bravo Cyril Lemoine! (Pictured during Tour of Qatar)

Boonen finally takes a stage, and is now only 2 seconds off the pace of the GC leader. It seemed they (re: the cycling press) and Boonen were actually nervous about it, so it must come as some relief. I am sure he will be on form for the classics.

I am a little disappointed in Romain Matheou. If he is going to try and secure the "Lanterne Rouge", he is going to still have to give up about 5 minutes. I don't think that can happen in one stage...so he should have lost more than 1:51 today.

Tomorrow is an individual time trial, so the GC should really get shaken up then. Hopefully Cyril Lemoine will be able to hold on to a top 10 finish.

Boonen wins the sprint...and look, right in the middle of the picture, there is Jimmy Casper!

Well, I guess there is a reason Cancellara gets the "big bucks." His second place finish in the 18K ITT was good enough to net him the final GC win.

Our guys didn't fare so well, Cyril Lemoine, 7th place yesterday losing almost 3 minutes and his place in the top 10. Overall, one stage win was a good result though, but it is clear that our team is a second-tier outfit, which is stating nothing new of course. Hopefully we will be able to pick off a few more wins and make a good impression on the ASO.

Stage 6 Results:
1 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor) Sky Pro Cycling Team 0:25:58
20 Laurent Mangel (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:01:33

88 Cyril Lemoine (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:02:59
92 Rony Martias (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:03:09
111 Romain Matheou (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:03:54
114 Jimmy Casper (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:04:01
115 Stéphane Poulhies (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:04:06
120 Cedric Coutouly (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 0:04:30

General Classification (Final):
1 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Team Saxo Bank 16:02:52
