There are rumors out there that Gitane is sponsoring a French team whose goal is to get a wild card invite to the 2010 Tour de France. What a treat that would be. here are some links:

*Note that in these pictures, the flaws in the decal design are on full display. What the heck was Gitane thinking in putting that decal on the integrated seatpost???

It makes some sense, as last year this outfit rode on EXS bicycles, which I believe are made by Cycleurope.

OK French speakers...I need a better translation than I could muster!

Now hopefully he and the rest of the team can manage to get an invite!

So it looks like they sorted out the seat mast decal problem.

Ultegra groupset on Jimmy's bike. I wonder if the race bikes will have Dura Ace?
Fizik saddle - Looks like an Alliante, but the photo is chopped off.
3TTT stem, and I am assuming bars also.
Ultegra training wheels, but the other photos had Lightweights.
Time pedals.
I don't recognise those biddon cages.

Where did that TT bike come from? Holy Moley! I gotta get one of those and paint it a nice shade of bumble bee. Wink

The team that he was with last year (the same one), rode on a combination of Dura Ace and Ultegra. I think their training bikes have Ultegra on them. I guess that is the difference between a Pro Tour team and a Continental one!

By the way, I still think the decal on the seat mast is stupid. They should reverse the one on the seat tube with the one on the seat mast.

I don't think the TT bike is made by Gitane, but who knows??? I tried to do a short search to see if it was a "Time" bike, but it wasn't. Kudos to the person who can figure out if it is a rebadged bicycle or a real Gitane.

Here is more on the team:

Regarding the TT bike....DUH! I guess that should have been the first place to look, but my mind is getting feeble in its old age.

I wonder why Gitane feels the name "Definitive" is more marketable. Perhaps the Gitane name in France is synonymous with cheap bicycles.

Here is more on their sponsorship. It is all over their website now:

Well found. Thanks for the info.

It's been some years since Gitane had a presence in the Pro ranks. Good to see the name returning.

The latest fashion seems to be to advertise the model or type of bike on the down tube. Pinarello have also gone the same way with Team Sky, perhaps we'll see other brands following suit.

This thread has been stopped by ME. All discussions now regarding Saur-Sojasun, should continue in the "Gitane Racing Teams" Forum.
