Reynolds 531?campagnolo drops?im thinking 1980-82 for year. it looks top end for sure. british 82 catalog has a couple bikes listed but not shown with shimano ax-ex groupsets. but they all are listed as having chromed forks. were missing the 81 catalog which I guess would be were this model falls into . the 80 French catalog doesn't show it and has no specs sheet . but it also shows a profile and profile rs with shimano ax-ex groupsets . so between the 80 French catalog and the 82 british they were using the shimano group sets. this is why I say 1980-82 . but can't quite nail the exact model down . and no fender eyelets so that screams racing bike to me .top end for sure. hope this helps you some but I know it doesn't answer your question.

Welcome,

Frame looks like a 1980-1982 frame. It's probably one of the top models from that period but seeing a sticker showing the tubing would maker it easier to tell the model.

The UK 1982 catalog shows a Vuelta model with a Super Vitus frame and Shimano components.

Bikes made for the French market had more French made components but "export" models differed.

Frame looks almost new and is certainly a good buy.

LOFTER, you beat me to the punch! Go back to bed! It's 5:10AM here on the left coast! Evil or Very Mad

I Photshopped the eBay picture and it looks like Reynolds 531 frame and fork tube stickers.

The specs for the Vuelta model in the UK catalog says Super Vitus tubing and Shimano components.

As I mentioned, during that era (late 70s-early 80s) there was a big push to use French components e.g. Spidel and Mavic gruppos. Next came Campy stuff and Japanese components were low on the list.

Andre Bertin/Milremo were Shimano's French importers/distributors at that time.

The big French makers bent to the desires of overseas (outside of France) markets and started supplying more and more Shimano gear.

PIctures will follow. This is what the seller already could tell me.

'Having trouble uploading the photos will attempt again in the mornming. The numbers stamped underneath the frame are 52319 & 1050. There is also a number 73 just by the seat post. Once again many thanks for your continued interest.'

Just won the frame! After a closer look at the auction pictures and the 1980 catalogue I found out it probably is a TROPHÉE No 3938. The catalogue says the TROPHÉE has a SHIMANO DURA ACE EX DD equipment. The decal at the frame says SHIMANO DURA ACE ..... COMPO SERIES. Made a quick comp of some of the auction pictures and the description of the TROPHÉE in the 1980 catalogue. BTW, My winning last minute bid was 80 GBP. Shipping to the Netherlands will cost me...70 GBP. Wink

Today I picked up my project-frame. It really looks nice. The seat post that came with it is a SR 26.4 mm. The head set is Dura Ace and the bottom bracket is Shimano too. Are we really talking 'early' Dura Ace EX 7200 overhere or the later Arabesque 600EX group? Will find out. Frame has quite some 'chips' and the blue of the head and fork seems a bit discoloured.

If the decals are original your frame is from 1980. The white "G" head tube decal was used that year only. The catalog posted is from 1981 (not 1980) even though it has the white "G" on the cover. Definitely not from '82 due to brake and derailleur guides.

Top of the line frame for sure - possibly an "Olympic"

I do think so too. The Campagnolo Super Record 1980 Olympic and the Shimano Dura Ace EX DD 1980 Trophée were built on equal frames. It's quite simular to the one of my 1978 Nation 1849 which is a Sugino Mighty/Weinman 605 finished version of the earlier 1978 Olympic.

I have a 1980 Team Pro, this one is just prior.
Must be 1987-1989.
