Bastille Day Ride

We did our annual CR Bastille Day ride today, 2 days late, Bastille Day was Thursday July 14th.

Classic French bikes and jerseys was the theme. The bikes were from the 70s and 80s. A brisk 30 miles with a stop at a winery for lunch (no baguettes or brie but GREAT California wine) . Very Happy

I was going to take out one of my Gitanes but I knew that there would be at least one other Gitane on the ride. The other riders had come to expect that I'd be on a Gitane...

Hide the kids, cover your eyes...

Pardonnez moi mon père parce que j'ai péché...

Just for something different, I've never seen one of these brands on a CR classic ride before. It's my 1988 PooJoe Biarritz in like new condition.

I was pleased today because I haven't been pushing myself very hard this year due to recurrent tendinitis in my calfs and ankles. I was on the 52T chainring and 13T, 15T or 17T sprockets for much of the ride! Cool

Viva la France!

You really didn't just post a photo of a non-Gitane French bike - did you Chas? Shocked

I suspected that our local CR group was expecting me to haul out yet another Gitane. I decided to surprise them and offend their sensibilities in one swift move! Twisted Evil

If I had one of the System U bikes from that era, I certainly would have drug that out. Maybe I could change the decals...

So the search is on... Get a System U bike for Emperor Estaban or for St. Dude (Chas.) Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Save me from my evil ways! Twisted Evil

Our benevolent despot must be tired from his race against Jet Blue. I was expecting to be exiled to the Raleigh Team Pro site by now! Shocked

The emperor needs his Systeme U Gitane (1988). Get out there, my people, and find me one in a size 54!
