Classic French bikes and jerseys was the theme. The bikes were from the 70s and 80s. A brisk 30 miles with a stop at a winery for lunch (no baguettes or brie but GREAT California wine) . I was going to take out one of my Gitanes but I knew that there would be at least one other Gitane on the ride. The other riders had come to expect that I'd be on a Gitane... Hide the kids, cover your eyes... Pardonnez moi mon père parce que j'ai péché... Just for something different, I've never seen one of these brands on a CR classic ride before. It's my 1988 PooJoe Biarritz in like new condition. I was pleased today because I haven't been pushing myself very hard this year due to recurrent tendinitis in my calfs and ankles. I suspected that our local CR group was expecting me to haul out yet another Gitane. I decided to surprise them and offend their sensibilities in one swift move! If I had one of the System U bikes from that era, I certainly would have drug that out. Maybe I could change the decals... So the search is on...
