The frame in the original pictures in your first post looked purple.

In different lighting it now looks like Gitane blue.

Are you talking about the repainted blue Bertin frame? If so, the decals are unavailable and you would have to have someone custom make them.

The paint on that frame looks very nice and I'd probably leave it alone.

Now, if you mean the Gitane Mexico frame, that paint looks pretty good too.

Looking at a bare frame up close, all of the scratches and chips in the paint are going to stand out.

Once that you put new decals plus components on the frame it will look much better, especially from 150cm away!

Look at this bike for example.

This is what it looked like when Wisey found it in Australia. Notice the scratches all over the frame.

If there was a lot of rust on the frame or the paint was faded or otherwise damaged then I'd recommend repainting it.

Also, worn looking components don't look very good on a newly painted bike.

If appearance is important to you then be prepared to spend some time cleaning and polishing older parts or investing some money in new or good looking used components.

It's a 35+ year old frame and at that age, it's OK to show some use.
