This picture gives you a very good look at the Delta bike's bars. This picture is from the Carson velodrome during the 1984 Olympics (los angeles). The French team must have been using them, although pictures are few and far between. Notice that they don't appear to be painted white, like the ones that Renault and Systeme U used: They appear to be silver...unfinished aluminum.

If you look closely (and this may be just an illusion or the picture), doesn't it appear that the "hammerhead" wing is turned in opposite directions? The bike in the front has a rear-slant to the leading edge of the "wing", with the opposing edge is flat. The bike in the rear has the opposite configuration. Could it be that you could adjust it, either forwards or backwards, to get a few more mm's of reach? Your thoughts?

Looking at some other pictures, it looks as if they were actually bent models of the bars as well, although in the picture above, it doesn't appear to have any bend at all. Here is another good Delta picture...and I have more!

Definitely looks like the Fignon bike has downward angle on the bar wing. The clamp is different to that on the 2 track bikes as is the headset top race. And I dont think it's a camera angle trick. The track bikes seem to have the wing mounted in opposite directions.
